Job summary

Seattle Public Schools is seeking a Special Education Assistant/ISE-203 to support students with special needs in regular or self-contained classrooms, implement IEP objectives, monitor behavior, and assist in instructional plans. The role is assigned to the Extended Resource service pathway.

Duties vary by school/program (e.g., autism, behavior disorders) and include adapting activities, assisting with personal care as needed, attending meetings, and maintaining records to support student

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Qualifying PESB paraeducator assessment or higher education credits.
• Experience with children preferred.

Responsibilities

• Adapt classroom activities under teacher direction for all special education students.
• Administer materials and assignments to assist evaluation and planning.
• Administer first aid and medical assistance as required.
• Assist students with personal care needs as needed.
• Attend meetings and in-service trainings for job information.
• Monitor students to provide a safe learning environment.
