Job summary

Eugene School District 4J is seeking a part-time Special Education Assistant to support one or more students with intensive needs on a 7:30 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. schedule, 7 hours daily (0.875 FTE), Monday‑Friday, on CL-196.

The position requires Highly Qualified status per Oregon, with transcripts or diploma, an associate degree or 72 credit hours, and passing tests. Training for medical and behavioral supports and IEP implementation will be required.

Qualifications

• Associate degree in Special Education or closely related field preferred.
• Two years of post-secondary study (72 credits/48 semester hours) with name on transcripts.
• High School Diploma or GED required or demonstrated via tests.
• District-required Oregon behavioral intervention training within 6 months of employment.

Responsibilities

• Support individual students or groups with IEP goals and behavioral plans.
• Assist with medical and physical support needs of students as directed by teachers.
• Implement and adapt planned lessons under supervision of licensed staff.
• Maintain data on student progress and support daily routines and transitions.
