Washington Elementary School District is seeking a Diversion - Special Education Assistant to support teachers in a diverse classroom with special education students. The role includes preparing materials, assisting with instruction, and monitoring students during activities.

Starting immediately, the position involves communicating with parents, contributing to lesson plans, and ensuring safety in lunch and recess periods. CPR certification must be obtained within 30 days of hire.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or GED prior to hire; CPR certification within 30 days of hire.
• Completion of 60 College Credit Hours or an Associate’s Degree or passing paraprofessional test, offered by WESD at no cost.
• CPR certification within thirty days of hire date is required.

Responsibilities

• Assist teachers in supporting special education students individually or in groups.
• Prepare materials and handouts, and copy materials for lessons.
• Monitor students on the playground and cafeteria to ensure safety.
• Communicate with parents regarding progress and concerns.
• Assist with planning and coordinating lesson plans; provide feedback from students.
• Perform other duties as required.
