Job summary

Minneapolis Public Schools' Lyndale Elementary is seeking a Special Education Assistant (Program) for the 2026-2027 school year to support students with disabilities and implement individualized lessons under supervision.

The role emphasizes promoting independence, social inclusion, and progress toward therapy and education goals, with duties spanning classroom support, behavior monitoring, data recording, and collaboration with staff and families.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• Education credits or coursework in education/child development preferred.
• ParaPro assessment score 460+ or higher preferred.
• Two years of paid experience with children.
• Ability to work with students with disabilities.

Responsibilities

• Provide support to students with moderate to severe disabilities.
• Assist staff to maintain a safe and inclusive learning environment.
• Apply behavior support plans and reinforce positive behavior.
• Monitor student progress and maintain records of activities.
• Assist with daily routines, transitions, hygiene, and transportation as needed.
• Communicate with parents/guardians and follow school policies.
