Job summary

Pleasant Valley Elementary School in Gresham, Oregon is seeking Special Educational Assistants to support a certificated teacher in instructional and behavioral programs for students with moderate to severe learning and physical disabilities.

HOURS are 8:00am to 2:30pm (6 Hours per Day), FTE .75 (Two positions). SALARY ranges from $21.29 to $29.47 per hour with full benefits, and the calendar is 193 days per year.

Qualifications

• Experience with students who have disabilities, autism spectrum disorder, or emotional disturbance is preferred.
• Ability to understand and apply IEPs and related plans.
• Willingness to work in a team with teachers and support staff.

Responsibilities

• Assist in planning and implementing learning experiences for students.
• Confer with teachers to provide feedback on student performance.
• Interpret IEPs and implement instructional plans within teacher guidance.
• Instruct students in small group and one-on-one settings.
• Adapt lessons to meet IEP goals and objectives.
• Help students develop positive relationships with peers and adults.
• Promote student safety and assist with behavior management.
• Collaborate with service staff and external agencies to support individual plans.
