Job summary

The Gresham-Barlow School District is hiring an Educational Assistant Special Education to provide instructional support and supervision for students with disabilities under the guidance of teachers and specialists.

Responsibilities include assisting with lesson plans, adapting work, and helping students with daily living skills. Familiarity with health care needs, safety procedures, and data collection for IEPs is essential.

Qualifications

• Experience with school age children, paid or volunteer.
• Education: completed associates or higher or demonstrated knowledge of reading, writing, and mathematics.
• Criminal Justice Fingerprint Clearance and First Aid/CPR/Bloodborne Pathogen training.

Responsibilities

• Assist teachers by implementing lesson plans and developing students' daily living and behavioral skills in special and general education settings.
• Provide instructional support to students in large groups, small groups, and one-on-one.
• Adapt classroom work to support learning objectives.
• Administer first aid and delegated health services.
• Maintain equipment and student files/records for special education.
• Monitor students to ensure a safe learning environment and address needs.
• Perform clerical tasks to support teachers and maintain records.
• Attend trainings and use de-escalation techniques as needed.
• Develop materials for IEP implementation and track progress.
