Job summary

Centennial High School in Portland, Oregon seeks an Educational Assistant for a Special Classroom. 7 hours per day, 8:00am-3:30pm, 0.875 FTE, with a salary of $21.29 to $29.47 per hour. Responsibilities include supporting a certificated teacher with instructional and behavioral programs for students with disabilities.

Required education includes two years of college, a two-year degree, or a No Child Left Behind paraprofessional certification. NVCI training may be required.

Qualifications

• Experience with English usage, spelling, grammar and punctuation.
• Knowledge of IDEA provisions or ability to learn them quickly.
• Ability to interpret IEPs and implement instructional plans.
• Ability to work in teams and support students with disabilities.

Responsibilities

• Assist planning and implementing learning experiences for students.
• Confer with teachers to provide feedback on student performance.
• Interpret IEPs and related plans within teacher guidelines.
• Instruct students in small group and one-on-one settings.
• Revise lesson plans to meet IEP goals.
• Promote safety and positive student relationships.
• Support behavior management and crisis prevention as trained.
