Job summary

Powell Butte Elementary School in Portland, Oregon, is seeking a Special Education Educational Assistant for a 6-hour day schedule (8:35am to 3:05pm). The role supports certificated teachers with IEP goals, behavior plans, and small-group instruction; start date is August 27, 2026, with training as needed.

Salary ranges from $21.29 to $29.47 per hour (Range D) with benefits including PERS, medical, dental, vision, and paid leaves. This is a part-time, .75 FTE position with a 193-day calendar.

Qualifications

• Experience working with students with special needs, including autism spectrum disorder.
• Ability to interpret IEPs and implement related plans with certificated teachers.
• Willingness to obtain or complete NVCI training if not already completed.

Responsibilities

• Assist in planning and implementing learning experiences for students.
• Confer with teachers to provide feedback on student performance.
• Instruct students in small group and one-on-one settings.
• Help maintain classroom behavior and safety per plans.
• Collaborate with staff and outside agencies to implement individual plans.
• Perform general clerical duties related to attendance and records.
