Job summary

Butler Creek Elementary School in Gresham, Oregon is seeking a Special Educational Assistant & Program/Safety Patrol Assistant for 5.75 hours per day (8:30am–2:15pm). The position combines SpEd support, program assistance, and safety patrol duties with a prorated 190-day calendar.

The salary ranges from $21.29 to $29.47 per hour, with benefits including PERS, medical, dental, vision, and paid leaves. Start date is August 27, 2026, or when filled.

Qualifications

• Education required: two years of college, a two-year degree, or a No Child Left Behind certification.
• Skills: clear English usage, spelling, grammar, and punctuation.
• Skills: ability to monitor student activities and behavior and intervene when needed.
• Knowledge: basic child care techniques and safety requirements.

Responsibilities

• Assist in planning and implementing learning experiences for students in the program.
• Confer with teachers to provide feedback on student performance.
• Interpret IEPs and implement instructional plans.
• Instruct students in small groups or one-on-one settings.
• Revise lesson plans or strategies to meet IEP goals.
• Conduct student testing with prescribed batteries and record results.
• Help students develop positive relationships and promote safety.
• Interpret and implement behavior management programs; train students accordingly.
• Provide education on appropriate interpersonal actions and respond to disciplinary issues.
