Job summary

POST HIGH - COMMUNITY TRANSITIONS PROGRAM in Troutdale, Oregon seeks an Educational Assistant to support Special Education students under a certified teacher. The role includes individual and small-group instruction, progress monitoring, and assisting with lesson materials.

Requires HS diploma or higher with up to 2 years of college or equivalent; bilingual abilities are valued. This is a Full Time position with 7.5 hours daily and a focus on inclusive education and student well-being.

Qualifications

• Experience working with students.
• Bilingual languages include Spanish, Russian, Chinese, Vietnamese, Arabic and Somali.
• Knowledge of English usage, spelling, mathematics and related subjects.
• Typing with accuracy using a word processing program and office machines.
• Understanding of classroom practices and school operations.
• Empathy for students with special needs and ability to plan instructional materials.
• Maintain confidentiality and complete district trainings such as Crisis Intervention, First Aid/CPR.

Responsibilities

• Assist the teacher in instruction and support of students.
• Instruct students in groups or individually.
• Monitor and document student progress.
• Provide input on lesson planning and evaluating results.
• Assist with grading papers and preparing materials.
• Provide interpretation/translation if bilingual.
