Job summary

Mason City Schools is seeking Substitute Special Education Aide and Specialized Classroom Aide positions with pay rates of $19.05/hr and $19.64/hr respectively. You will assist students under supervision, support reading and recitation, and perform light clerical tasks in a school setting.

Under the guidance of the intervention specialist, you will work one-on-one or in small groups, provide help with self-care skills, and assist in documenting pupil progress, with potential medical support

Qualifications

• Must have a high school diploma or GED.
• Must be able to pass a BCI&I and FBI criminal background check.
• Must be willing to apply for an Educational Aide Permit through the Ohio Department of Education.

Responsibilities

• Supports the student(s) in recitation, reading, and other curriculum tasks, guiding and helping, but not teaching.
• Under supervision of the intervention specialist teacher, works one on one or with small groups of students to reinforce material initially introduced by the teacher.
• Performs clerical duties such as running copies, putting up bulletin boards, preparing materials, etc.
• Implements teacher-directed interventions to support pupil performance objectives.
• Assists students where necessary in accomplishing self-help skills and gradually decrease support as appropriate.
• Assists in documentation of pupil performance.
• Assist in toileting needs, including diapering.
• Will work with student(s) who has medical needs which could include tube feedings, insulin testing, etc.
• Other Duties as Assigned
