Job summary

Massillon City Schools seeks a Substitute Special Education Aide to assist in a cross-category classroom. The role runs Monday–Friday, 7:15 am–2:45 pm, remunerated at $14.00 per hour. Reports to the Director of Student Services and building principals.

Prior paraprofessional or aide experience is preferred and an Ohio aide certificate is required. Responsibilities include escorting students, supporting instruction, supervising during activities, and ensuring safety and confidentiality in all

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Must hold a valid Ohio Teacher’s aide Certificate.
• ESEA qualified designation or two years of higher education; associate’s degree or higher preferred.

Responsibilities

• Take students off bus in the morning and bring them to the classroom.
• Assist students to classes individually or as a class.
• Accompany students to their individual classes; music, art, gym, computer and swimming.
• Supervise students during activity periods and transitions.
• Assist with lunchroom, toileting, and personal hygiene as needed.
• Discipline with positive, firm corrections and reinforce good behavior.
• Respect confidentiality of personal information.
