Job summary

Missouri Department of Elementary and Secondary Education seeks a Teacher Aide for Missouri Schools for the Severely Disabled (MSSD) to support instructional programs and daily student care under teacher supervision.

The role requires a High School diploma or GED with experience in extreme disabilities preferred; CPR certification is required. This is a full-time state position with benefits and pension eligibility.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or GED required.
• Experience working with individuals with severe disabilities preferred.
• CPR certification maintained at level per AHA/Red Cross requirements.

Responsibilities

• Implement student instructional program as directed by teacher.
• Follow behavior support plans of individual students.
• Accommodate for each student’s individual communication needs.
• Follow daily schedule of work activities.
• Perform the daily self-care needs of students (e.g., diapering, feeding, hand washing, tooth brushing).
• Follow student-specific health care procedures as trained by the school nurse.
• Assist with arrival/dismissal transfer of students to/from bus and classroom.
• Provide a safe school environment for students.
• Participate in 15 hours of in‑service first year of employment and 10 hours each year thereafter.
• Maintain confidentiality of parent, student and staff information.
• Maintain CPR certification as required.
