Job summary

The Missouri Department of Elementary and Secondary Education is seeking a Teacher Aide for the Missouri Schools for the Severely Disabled (MSSD). The role supports teachers by implementing instructional programs and following individualized behavior plans for students with severe disabilities.

Responsibilities include daily activities, health care procedures per nurse guidance, and ensuring a safe learning environment.

Qualifications

• Experience working with individuals with severe disabilities preferred.
• CPR certification at Basic Life Support level per health care providers.
• High school diploma or GED required.

Responsibilities

• Implement student instructional program as directed by teacher.
• Follow behavior support plans of individual students.
• Accommodate for each student’s individual communication needs.
• Follow daily schedule of work activities.
• Perform daily self-care tasks for students (diapering, feeding, hand washing, etc.).
• Follow student-specific health care procedures as trained by the school nurse.
• Assist with arrival/dismissal transfer of students to/from bus and classroom.
• Provide a safe school environment for students.
