Job summary

Qualifications

• Knowledge of techniques for working with persons with disabilities.
• Ability to communicate effectively in writing and verbally; perform math calculations.
• Proficiency in MS Office and basic computer-based equipment.
• Knowledge of first aid methods, including CPR.
• Ability to apply common sense to solve practical problems; work with diverse stakeholders.
• Ability to collaborate with staff, students, families, and community.

Responsibilities

• Provide a safe, supportive environment so students with special needs access education.
• Accompany and assist students during the school day per IEP needs.
• Provide tutoring/remediation 1:1 or small groups under a certified teacher.
• Transcribe instructional materials into Braille as needed.
• Assist with self-care tasks (feeding, hygiene, dressing, mobility).
• Perform medical tasks under licensed providers' direction as assigned.
• Maintain records; complete Medicaid billings; support administrative duties.
• Assist with organizing activities, paperwork, and scheduling.
• Support instruction in groups and monitor behavior according to plans.
• Assist with informal testing/monitoring of objectives; record progress.
