Job summary

Daniel Boone Area School District is seeking a Special Education Instructional Aide to support students with diverse learning needs in both resource and general education settings. The role also includes clerical tasks and assisting teachers with in-class and small-group instruction.

The position emphasizes fostering a positive self-esteem, ensuring inclusive practice, and using materials and techniques as directed by the classroom teacher.

Qualifications

• High school diploma required.
• Ability to work harmoniously with students and teachers.
• Experience in organizational skills.
• Knowledge of and/or experience with computers is preferred but not required.
• Credentials are in compliance with all federal and state laws governing this position.

Responsibilities

• Work with students assigned to receive instructional support either in the resource room or regular classroom.
• Perform clerical duties as assigned.
• Respond to teacher's needs for in-class and/or small group assistance.
• Assist teacher in maintenance of program resources.
• Conduct reading, language, math and other groups with individual differences.
• Review IEPs with teacher and help fulfill goals and objectives.
• Participate in inclusion of special needs children in the regular classroom.
• Utilize instructional materials, learning activities, and techniques as directed by the teacher.
• Develop rapport with students and encourage positive self-esteem.
• Maintain classroom routine and order when the teacher leaves the classroom and discuss student discipline concerns with the attending teacher.
• Perform non-teaching/clerical duties as requested by the teacher and administration.
• Participate in building and district level programs as assigned by the administration.
