Job summary

Daniel Boone Area School District is seeking a Special Education Instructional Aide to support students in the resource room or regular classroom. This paraprofessional role assists teachers, conducts small groups, and helps maintain instructional materials and classroom routine.

Requirements include a high school diploma and the ability to work harmoniously with students and staff; strong organizational skills; comfort with computers; and adherence to district policies and procedures.

Qualifications

• High school diploma required.
• Ability to work harmoniously with students and teachers.
• Experience in organizational skills.
• Knowledge of and/or experience with computers (preferred).
• Credentials compliant with all federal and state laws governing instructional assistants.

Responsibilities

• Work with students assigned to receive instructional support in the resource room or regular classroom.
• Perform clerical duties as assigned.
• Respond to teacher's needs for in-class and/or small group assistance.
• Assist teacher in maintenance of program resources.
• Conduct reading, language, math and other groups while accommodating individual differences.
• Review IEPs with the teacher and support goals and objectives.
• Participate in inclusion of special needs children in the regular classroom.
• Utilize instructional materials and activities as directed by the teacher.
• Develop rapport with students and encourage positive self-esteem.
• Maintain classroom routine and order; discuss student discipline with the teacher.
• Perform non-teaching/clerical duties as requested by the teacher and administration.
