Job summary

Wichita Falls Independent School District is seeking an Aide II to support students with disabilities under the supervision of a certified teacher. The role focuses on assisting with instructional activities, self-help skills, and behavior management in a special education setting.

Responsibilities include preparing materials, assisting with mobility and daily living tasks, and monitoring student progress while maintaining confidentiality and following district policies.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED.
• 48 College hours or TOPS Training through Region 9 ESC.
• Valid Texas educational aide certificate.
• Ability to work with children with disabilities.
• Ability to follow verbal and written instructions.
• Ability to communicate effectively.
• Knowledge of general office equipment.
• Some experience working with children.

Responsibilities

• Help teacher prepare instructional materials and classroom displays.
• Help maintain a neat and orderly classroom.
• Help with inventory, care, and maintenance of equipment.
• Help teacher keep administrative records and prepare required reports.
• Provide orientation and assistance to substitute teachers.
• Assist students with physical disabilities including transferring to/from wheelchairs, lifting, or positioning.
• Assist students with physical needs and personal care, including feeding and personal hygiene.
• Help manage behavior and intervene in crisis situations as needed.
• Adapt to each student’s medical, physical, communicative, and emotional needs.
• Develop motor skills with individual students or small groups.
• Supervise students inside and outside the classroom (lunchroom, bus, playground, community).
• Assist teacher and students with daily living skills and gardening when applicable.
• Keep teacher informed of special needs or problems of individual students.
