Job summary

Fort Bend ISD is hiring for an Aide Special Education Functional Living and School Health Services (FLaSH) to support students with disabilities in a variety of educational settings, helping them access the curriculum in the least restrictive environment. You will assist teachers in implementing IEPs, including academics, behavior, communication, social and personal care skills.

The role emphasizes safety, data collection on IEP targets, and collaboration with staff; responsibilities include

Qualifications

• Minimum of 48 college hours or passing score on the Para Professional Assessment of Knowledge and Skills Test.
• Texas Educational Aide Certification preferred or required to obtain once hired.
• De-Escalation/Restraint Certification preferred or required to obtain once hired (district-provided training).
• Proficient in using Windows Operating System as well as Microsoft Office applications (Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint).
• Ability to effectively communicate information and ideas both verbally and in writing.

Responsibilities

• Interact with students in a variety of settings to ensure student safety and engagement.
• Assist with classroom management by maintaining alert attention regarding supervision of students at all times.
• Execute behavioral strategies as identified by the teacher based on ARD documents; intervene using a continuum of strategies.
• Implement academic/functional lessons under the guidance and direction of the teacher.
• Routinely collect data on IEP targets and behavior in collaboration with the teacher.
• Assist students with personal care services (e.g., hygiene, toileting, dressing, feeding) - may be >50% of the day.
• Assist in using adaptive equipment and assistive technology as recommended by related service providers/ARD.
• Provide school health services under the supervision of the nurse and classroom teacher.
