Job summary

Heritage Academy San Antonio Campus is seeking a Special Education Instructional Aide to support the classroom teacher and students with disabilities. The role involves implementing IEPs, collaborating with therapists, maintaining records, and assisting with ARD/REED timelines to ensure timely services.

The ideal candidate will have a high school diploma, experience with students or parents, and meet one of the listed education requirements.

Qualifications

• High school graduate or GED required.
• Experience working with students or parents as approved by the employing superintendent.
• Must meet one of: three years as Educational Aide I/II; 30 college hours with child growth/development focus; completion of Education Service Center paraprofessional certification.

Responsibilities

• Assist in the educational and social development of students under guidance of the classroom teacher and campus administration.
• Assist in implementing Individual Education Plans (IEPs) and monitor progress.
• Provide support for individual students inside and outside the classroom to enable participation.
• Work with speech therapists, social workers, occupational and physical therapists.
• Assist in maintaining student records.
• Schedule ARD meetings and REED timelines ensuring timelines are met.
• Assist in acquiring contracted service providers as needed.
• Ensure student progress findings are used to improve services.
• Update and send IEP Report Cards with general report cards.
• Plan resources and materials to support general education goals for students in special education.
• Ensure compliance with state mandated assessments and alternate assessments.
• Assist with the Response to Intervention process.
• Seek guidance from IDEA Coordination supervisor when needed.
• Support campus behavior management policies for students with disabilities.
• Establish communication with parents, students, teachers, and administrators.
• Implement Special Education policies and guidelines.
• Maintain all required reports and documents.
• Perform special projects after normal business hours.
