Job summary

Alief ISD is hiring a 2026-2027 Special Education Aide – 18 Plus in the Special Education Department. The position supports teachers by providing learning activities and assisting with IEP objectives to help students grow intellectually, emotionally, and socially.

Responsibilities include attendance, materials preparation, data collection, direct instruction, and supervision during community-based instruction, with a focus on student independence and safety.

Qualifications

• High School graduate or GED required.
• Eligible for paraprofessional certification.
• Ability to use multimedia equipment and computer technology.
• Ability to manage student behavior.
• Proficiency in oral and written communication.

Responsibilities

• Check and record student attendance.
• Reproduce and distribute instructional materials.
• Assist in the modification of instructional materials.
• Work with individual students or small groups to reinforce learning of material or skills initially taught by the teacher.
• Collect and record data related to students’ IEP objectives and educational plans.
• Read to students, listen to students read, and participate in other forms of oral communication with students.
• Maintain a high level of ethical behavior and confidentiality of information about students as is expected of teachers.
• Perform PCS tasks as specified in each student’s IEP.
• Maintain timely and accurate documentation of all SHARS billable PCS activities.
