Job summary

Fort Bend ISD seeks an Aide Special Education CLASS to provide direct support to students with disabilities across diverse settings, helping them access the curriculum in the least restrictive environment. You will assist teachers with implementing IEPs, data collection, and progress monitoring, while keeping students safe and engaged.

The role emphasizes collaboration with staff, facilitating personal care tasks, and applying behavior strategies.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 48 college hours or passing Para Professional Assessment.
• Texas Educational Aide Certification preferred or required to obtain once hired.
• De-Escalation/Restraint Certification preferred or required to obtain once hired.
• Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) training preferred or required to obtain once hired.
• Proficient in Windows OS and Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
• Ability to effectively communicate information and ideas both verbally and in writing.

Responsibilities

• Interact with students in a variety of settings to ensure safety and engagement.
• Assist with classroom management by maintaining alert attention and supervision.
• Implement behavioral strategies per ARD documents, including restraints when student is in danger.
• Implement academic/functional lessons under teacher guidance in various settings.
• Assist students with personal care services (feeding, cleaning, dressing, lifting, toileting) – may be >50% of the day.
• Record implementation of services and logs; routinely collect data on IEP targets and behavior.
• Maintain confidentiality of student information.
• Prepare instructional materials under the guidance of the teacher.
