Job summary

Jackson Madison County School System is seeking an Educational Assistant to support a Special Education classroom. The role reports to the Classroom Teacher and Principal, assist with implementing IEP goals and daily living skills, and support health care needs and behavior plans.

Requirements include Tennessee Highly Qualified Paraprofessional status, with one of the options: 48 college hours, an Associate Degree or higher, or a High School Diploma with Praxis ParaPro.

Qualifications

• State requires Highly Qualified Paraprofessional status.
• Must meet one: 48 college hours, associate degree or higher, or high school diploma plus Praxis ParaPro.
• coursework/degree from an accredited institution; no specific subject required.

Responsibilities

• Adapts activities and materials to support objectives.
• Assists with health care needs and daily living skills.
• Implements IEP goals and student behavior plans.
• Performs clerical tasks to aid instructional materials readiness.
• Maintains confidentiality of student information.
• Supports and models appropriate student interactions.
• Assists students with lavatory and daily living needs.
