Job summary

Jackson Madison County School System is seeking an Educational Assistant to support classroom teachers with instructional activities and student supervision. The role involves assisting with small groups, materials management, and maintaining a safe, orderly classroom environment.

The position requires completing at least 48 college hours or possessing an associate's degree or higher, as well as passing the Praxis ParaPro. A security/background check is required, with renewals every five years.

Qualifications

• Completion of at least 48 college semester hours or an associate's degree or higher.
• High School Diploma or GED and Pass the Praxis ParaPro Assessment before hire.
• FBI/TBI Background Clearance every five years.
• Alternatives to the above qualifications may be acceptable at Superintendent's discretion.

Responsibilities

• Arrives and leaves the workplace on time and dresses appropriately for the assigned school setting.
• Types, duplicates, and compiles instructional materials.
• Distributes and collects papers, workbooks, and other materials for instruction.
• Works with individual students or small groups to reinforce learning.
• May administer, score, and record achievement and/or diagnostic tests and data from individual students.
• Assists with supervision during drills, field trips, and school functions.
• Adheres to school safety rules and confidentiality regarding student information.
