Job summary

Qualifications

• High School diploma.
• Demonstrated competence in tasks assigned preferred.
• Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the Board may find appropriate and acceptable.

Responsibilities

• Assists with tasks associated with the assigned student(s) curriculum.
• Provides physical assistance for the assigned student(s) if indicated.
• Monitors and/or accompanies the assigned student(s) as needed.
• Establishes a supportive relationship with the assigned student(s).
• Serves as a resource person for the assigned student(s) evaluation team.
• Assists with clerical tasks associated with the assigned student(s).
• Collaborate with other staff members, including special education teachers, therapists, and support staff, to meet the needs of all students.
• Support students with special needs or accommodations as outlined in IEPs.
• Use strategies to de-escalate challenging behaviors and ensure a safe environment for all students.
• Engage in ongoing training and professional development opportunities to stay informed about best practices in special education.
• Support students in participating in general education classrooms and activities, promoting an inclusive environment.
• Encourage and reinforce positive behaviors and social interactions.
• Perform other duties as assigned
