Job summary

JEFFERSON ELEMENTARY SCHOOL in Little Rock is seeking a Special Education aide to assist a certified teacher and other staff in delivering instructional programs and support services. The role runs on a 9.25-month contract with benefits; placement within the salary range will reflect experience.

Non-exempt under FLSA. Responsibilities include reinforcing lessons, preparing instructional materials, assisting with student needs, transporting students as needed, and implementing behavior management

Qualifications

• Completion of 60 semester credit hours or an Associate Degree or ParaPro Praxis exam (457+).
• Demonstrates competence for assigned responsibilities.
• Typing ability preferred and strong confidentiality.

Responsibilities

• Reinforces instructional activities with students as prescribed.
• Assists in the preparation of lesson plans and instructional materials.
• Assumes responsibility for being prepared to perform instructional duties as prescribed.
• Assists with the physical needs of the student (e.g. feeding, toileting, dressing).
• Assists in and/or provides transportation of students to and from learning sites.
• Learns the curriculum content of the classes in which he/she assists.
• Implements behavior management techniques.
• Assists in data collection.
• Assists the teacher with maintenance of the classroom.
• Assist with duties such as lunchroom, recess, bus, etc.
• Participates in in-services, staffing, faculty meetings, etc.
