Job summary

West Memphis School District in West Memphis, Arkansas seeks a Special Education Paraprofessional for the 2026-2027 school year. You will work with individual students or small groups to reinforce learning and provide behavioral support under the teacher’s guidance.

Responsibilities include assisting with strategies, serving as a resource for substitutes, clerical and classroom duties, supervising during meals and activities, and supporting non-instructional tasks.

Qualifications

• Associate’s degree and/or 60 earned college hours and/or passed ParaPro Assessment with a score of 457
• Prefer prior experience working with special needs children
• Must be able to perform heavy lifting of students and equipment
• Possess a strong desire to assist students with special needs in a learning environment

Responsibilities

• Support individual students or small groups to reinforce learning of materials or skills.
• Assist with behavioral management and support needs of students.
• Help teacher devise strategies tailored to each student’s needs and abilities.
• Serve as chief information source for substitute teachers when regular teacher is absent.
• Perform clerical, classroom maintenance, and instructional duties as assigned.
• Supervise students during meals, adaptive PE, activities, and other areas as assigned.
• Handle non-instructional duties such as personal care needs and transitions.
• Maintain confidentiality of student information and participate in in-service training.
