Job summary

Sylvania is seeking a dedicated instructional assistant to support students with disabilities within our AZ Marana campus. You will assist with IEP-directed activities, provide tutoring, and help with daily classroom operations to enable students to reach their potential.

The role involves medical task support under licensed providers, documenting records, and coordinating with teachers and parents. A high school diploma and current CPR/First Aid certification are required.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent required.
• Current CPR/AED/First Aid Certification (in-person required).
• AZ Driver’s License and Finger Print Clearance
• Any equivalent combination of training, education and experience that meets minimum requirements

Responsibilities

• Provide a safe and supportive environment so students with special needs may fully access their education.
• Accompany and assist students throughout the school day as necessitated by the IEP.
• Provide academic tutoring/remediation, 1:1 or small group settings under the direction of a certified teacher.
• May transcribe instructional materials into Braille as needed.
• Assist students in self-care activities including feeding, hygiene, dressing, and mobility.
• Perform medical tasks under the direction of licensed medical providers (nurses, doctors) including catheterizations and tube feeding.
• Maintain required records and Medicaid billings.
• Assist with administrative and clerical duties as assigned (typing, filing, data entry).
• Assist with organizing activities, scheduling events, processing paperwork and related tasks.
• Assist with instruction in groups and monitor behaviors for behavior plans; modify assignments as needed.
• Assist with informal testing/monitoring of objectives (sight words, math facts, reading inventories).
• Perform classroom duties (bulletin boards, calendars, centers).
• May assist with IEP/paperwork on a limited basis.
• Schedule and contact parents for IEP, CST, MET meetings.
• Assist with proctoring state testing.
• May grade student work and record goals/grades on spreadsheets.
• Perform related duties as assigned.
