Job summary

Sylvania is seeking a classroom aide to assist certified staff and support students in meeting instructional goals. You will work with individuals and small groups in reading, language arts, math, and computer-based activities, helping to implement programs and keep students on task.

You will assist with test administration, materials preparation, and documentation of student progress, while maintaining confidentiality and fostering a supportive learning environment for diverse learners.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• College coursework completion or passing of examination as required by No Child Left Behind Act.
• Prior experience working with special needs children desirable.

Responsibilities

• Assist students individually and in small groups.
• Reinforce reading, language arts, math and computer instruction.
• Support teachers with administration and correction of exercises and assessments.
• Assist in preparing instructional materials and reinforcing skills.
• Maintain records documenting student learning and performance.
• Support classroom behavioral management to maintain a safe, orderly environment.
• Supervise students in non-instructional areas (lunch, bus, playground, study hall).
• Accompany students on field trips for supervision.
• Assist with parent contact to encourage involvement in education.
• Support students with disabilities to maximize inclusion in learning activities.
