Job summary

Piedmont Intermediate in Piedmont, Oklahoma is seeking a Special Education Teacher to serve students with Mild/Moderate disabilities in accordance with Oklahoma state requirements. The role reports to the Site Principal and/or Assistant Principal and involves collaboration with the Executive Director of Special Services.

Starting date is immediate; the position is full-time with a salary of $46,700 per year.

Responsibilities

• Creates an effective classroom environment conducive to learning and appropriate to students' developmental levels and interests.
• Develops lesson plans and materials aligned to state standards and individual needs.
• Provides instruction to students, appropriate to the educational program, in assigned locations and times.
• Employs a variety of instructional techniques and media.
• Takes necessary precautions to protect students, equipment, materials and facilities.
• Cooperates with general education teachers and staff in planning instructional goals and accommodations for students in special education.
• Maintains open communication with students and parents concerning academic and behavioral progress.
• Participates in IEP meetings and related evaluative processes.
• Abides by district, state and federal laws and policies, including documentation.
• Maintains confidentiality.
• Communicates with parents through conferences and other means to discuss pupil progress and interpret the school program.
• Attends faculty meetings and professional development activities, and serves on committees as required.
