Job summary

The Missouri Department of Elementary and Secondary Education seeks a Substitute Teacher for Missouri Schools for the Severely Disabled in Chillicothe. You will design and implement IEPs, tailor activities to learning styles, and lead team meetings while maintaining safety and confidentiality for students with special needs.

A valid Missouri Teaching or Substitute Teacher’s Certificate is required, or documentation of 60 semester hours.

Qualifications

• 60 semester hours from an accredited college or university.
• Missouri Teaching Certificate or Missouri Substitute Teacher’s Certificate.
• A professional license pursuant to state law may be accepted.
• Other qualifications may be accepted in lieu of the above.

Responsibilities

• Design and implement individualized education programs (IEP) for students with disabilities using the MSSD curriculum.
• Analyze learning styles and adapt teaching strategies to meet educational needs.
• Select age-appropriate activities, materials, and sites for teaching.
• Conduct IEP team meetings and coordinate behavioral and communication plans.
• Develop time-efficient daily schedules and maintain student safety and confidentiality.
