Job summary

Missouri Department of Elementary and Secondary Education is seeking a Substitute Teacher for Missouri Schools for the Severely Disabled. The role focuses on designing and implementing IEPs, adapting instruction to student needs, and coordinating behavioral and communication supports.

The position requires Missouri substitute or teaching certification, compliance with health procedures, and maintaining confidentiality.

Qualifications

• Eligible to be issued and receive a Missouri Substitute Teacher’s Certificate with 60 semester hours
• Missouri Teaching Certificate required or professional license under state law
• Other requirements per Commissioner of Education may be accepted in lieu of above

Responsibilities

• Design and implement individualized education programs (IEPs) for students with disabilities
• Analyze learning styles and adapt teaching strategies
• Select age-appropriate activities and sites for teaching
• Conduct IEP team and special education meetings
• Coordinate behavioral support plans for students with challenging Behaviors
• Coordinate communication systems for students
• Create efficient daily schedules for IEP implementation
• Follow health care procedures for students as specified
• Maintain a safe learning environment
• Maintain confidentiality of students and staff information
• Follow program policies and guidelines
• Assist with daily student self-care needs as required
• Maintain CPR, AED, and First Aid certifications
