Qualifications

• High School Diploma or higher education in approved program (transcripts required).
• Two years of higher education or an associate degree with transcripts.
• Pass state/local test demonstrating knowledge and ability per NCLB.
• Experience with people with disabilities preferred.
• Maintain confidentiality and interact appropriately with students, staff.
• Excellent attendance; flexible and reliable.
• Minimum typing 60-65 wpm.
• Complete district training modules for daily captioning.

Responsibilities

• Takes direction from building staff for program delivery.
• Assist with orientation, reading, music, art, physical education per learning plans.
• Follow prescribed behavioral management programs.
• Develop instructional materials; assist individually when appropriate.
• Assist with physical mobility and daily living activities.
• Participate in activities including lunch, recess, PE.
• Report progress to the appropriate special educator.
• Assist with classroom operations and materials.
• Supervise students outside the classroom; other duties as assigned.
