Job summary

MSAD 61 is seeking a dedicated Special Education Permanent Substitute to support our programs. This position may move between Stevens Brook Elementary and Songo Locks School, ensuring continuity of instruction for students with diverse learning needs.

Collaboration with teachers, service providers, and administrators is essential. Ideal candidates will have Maine licensure/teacher technician credentials, fingerprint clearance, and strong teamwork, confidentiality, and adaptability.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma required.
• MDOE Educational Technician I, II Certification required.
• Maine DOE Fingerprinting required.
• Strong interpersonal and organizational skills required.
• Demonstrated commitment to ethical conduct and confidentiality required.
• Special Education training and experience preferred.
• Elementary school level academic work in all subjects preferred.
• Effective classroom management strategies preferred.
• Building and maintaining supportive relationships with students preferred.
• Be a team player with good communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Provide instruction and support to students with special needs in both inclusion and self-contained settings.
• Collaborate with special education teachers, general education staff, and administrators to implement IEP goals.
• Maintain a flexible approach to daily assignments and adapt to various classrooms.
• Communicate clearly with students, staff, and families, respecting privacy.
• Maintain accurate documentation and comply with policies related to special education and student records.
• Uphold a positive, respectful, and inclusive classroom environment.
