Job summary

IVC School District is seeking caring paraprofessionals to support special education students in various programs for the 2025-2026 school year.

Responsibilities include guiding students in reading, language arts and math, assisting with classroom activities, field trips, behavior management, and support during non-instructional times. The role involves collaboration with teachers and participation in IEP processes.

Qualifications

High School diploma or equivalent.
60 hours of college coursework or paraprofessional exam.
Experience with special needs children desirable but not mandatory.

Responsibilities

Assists and guides students to reinforce reading, language arts, mathematics, computer instruction, and other skills.
Works with students individually and in small groups to reinforce basic learning and implement assigned programs.
Assists professional staff in administration and correction of classroom exercises, tests and assessments.
Assists in classroom preparations and strategies for reinforcing instructional materials and skills according to individual student needs.
Assists with record-keeping procedures to document student learning and performance.
Assists with classroom behavioral management to minimize disruptions, ensure a safe and orderly classroom, and ensure students are on task.
Assists students in non-instructional areas, such as supervising lunch programs, bus duty, playground duty, corridor, study hall, and other related areas.
Accompanies students on field trips for supervision.
Constructs, copies and distributes educational materials as needed.
Assists teacher with parent contact to foster effective parent involvement.
Assists students with special needs to maximize inclusion and achievement of IEP objectives.
Participates in IEP process as resource for evaluation team.
Assist students with physical or mental disabilities with activities of daily living.
Follows safety rules and regulations for assisting students.
