Job summary

CALVERT ELEMENTARY SCHOOL is seeking an Instructional Assistant 2 to support students with disabilities in both special and general education classrooms. The role focuses on instructional, behavioral, and social-emotional supports to help students access the curriculum and resources.

The position requires a high school diploma or GED, and a background in crisis management training; a strong communication ability and teamwork with teachers and staff are essential.

Qualifications

• Experience working with children with disabilities and managing externalizing behaviors preferred.
• Earns and maintains non-violent Calvert County Public School crisis management training (CPI, trauma-informed care, COMAR, etc.), and related trainings as required.

Responsibilities

• Provide instructional, behavioral and social emotional supports to students with disabilities.
• Assist individual children in need of special attention in academics, social, emotional, behavioral supports, and daily living activities.
• Assist with the provision of specially designed instruction and consistent implementation of student(s)’ Behavior Intervention Plan (BIP) under teacher direction.
• Support data collection for IEPs and BIPs and implement requested interventions.
• Deliver academic interventions and implement proactive behavioral supports/ interventions.
• Intervene in crisis situations using non-violent CPI when needed.
• Guide students in activities of daily living and personal care as required.
• Collaborate with educators and providers to implement IEPs across settings.
