Job summary

Rock Creek Elementary is seeking a dedicated ERC Paraprofessional to support students with diverse learning needs in the Exceptional Resource Classroom. You will collaborate with teachers, students and families to foster an inclusive, supportive environment and ensure access to resources for academic and social success.

You will assist with IEPs, supervise classroom activities, and help prepare instructional materials.

Qualifications

• Requires two years of college or an AA degree or ParaPro assessment.
• Experience with students with special needs or in a school setting preferred.
• Knowledge of special education practices and behavior management.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills; able to collaborate with families.
• Patience, empathy and a desire to support student learning and development.
• Proficiency with basic computer skills and educational technology.
• Must pass a background check and required training.
• CPR/First Aid certification preferred or willingness to obtain.

Responsibilities

• Assist teachers in implementing IEPs for students with special needs.
• Provide direct support to students in the classroom for academics, social skills, and behavior.
• Facilitate small group instruction and provide one-on-one assistance.
• Monitor student progress and report concerns to the classroom teacher.
• Collaborate with teachers and staff to create a positive learning environment.
• Assist in preparing instructional materials and activities.
• Participate in professional development opportunities to enhance skills.
• Support students during transitions between classes, lunch, and activities.
• Maintain confidentiality and adhere to policies.
