Job summary

Chippewa Valley Schools in Clinton Township, MI is seeking a Special Ed Support & Classroom Aide-Sequoyah. The role assists the teacher and students to provide the best possible learning experience in a safe, confidential environment. The position runs 6.25 hours daily, with hours from 8:55am to 3:40pm, at $17.75 per hour, starting ASAP.

Starting date is immediate; requires a high school diploma. CPI training is provided; experience with children, particularly in special education, is preferred.

Qualifications

• Requires high school diploma or equivalent.
• Experience working with children, especially with special education, preferred.
• CPI training provided; ability to follow safety policies and procedures.
• Ability to work under supervision and support instructional activities.

Responsibilities

• Assist one-on-one, small groups or classroom with students under the supervision of the teacher.
• Assist teacher with completing academic tasks.
• Engage students with instructional activities developed by the teacher (reading, writing, math, etc.).
• Support behavior by implementing PBSP, IEP accommodations and behavior management strategies.
• Monitor, intervene and redirect student behaviors to prevent incidents.
• Assist with personal needs including hygiene and toileting as needed.
• Collect data related to behavior and academics.
• Participate in CPI training and professional development.
• Communicate with community, staff and students to answer questions and share information.
