Job summary

Specialized Education Services, Inc. (SESI) seeks an assistant teacher to support K-12 students with diverse needs in in-district classrooms and standalone schools.

You will collaborate with teachers to deliver individualized instruction, monitor progress, and apply SESI’s PBIS CASE framework to foster academic and social-emotional growth.

The position emphasizes small-group instruction, data-driven planning, and ongoing professional development within a nationwide network.

Qualifications

• High school diploma required; college experience or bachelor’s degree highly preferred.
• Experience working with students with special needs in an educational setting preferred.

Responsibilities

• Lead small group instruction using SESI’s rotational model.
• Collaborate with the teacher to provide customized behavioral and academic support and conduct assessments.
• Reinforce learning, assign tasks, and tailor materials using data; perform one-on-one tutorials.
• Assist with large group activities, grading, and independent study, providing accommodations as needed.
• Utilize de-escalation techniques and safety measures to protect students and staff.
• Support daily plans and track student growth toward academic, social, and emotional goals.
• Supervise students and coordinate with other staff to address students’ needs.
