Job summary

The University of Maryland Medical System (UMMS) is seeking an experienced Registered Nurse for the Special Care Nursery. This PRN-Unit Based Pool Tier I role involves rotating shifts on Labor and Delivery settings, with competency in neonatal care and safety.

Responsibilities include assessing patients, developing care plans, administering medications and monitoring, and educating families. Maryland-licensed RNs with BCLS/NRP and STABLE are preferred.

Qualifications

• Graduate of an accredited school of nursing; Bachelor's degree preferred.
• Current Maryland RN license is required.
• Certification in BCLS and NRP is required; if not certified, must obtain within 60 days.
• STABLE certification required or must be obtained prior to unit-based orientation.

Responsibilities

• Assess and document the patient's physical, psychosocial, educational, and discharge planning needs.
• Develop and update a prioritized plan of care based on diagnosis and patient needs.
• Administer/monitor blood transfusions, medications, and IV therapy per hospital policy.
• Maintain NRP, fetal monitoring and rhythm recognition competencies.
• Orient and maintain competencies for a mother/baby RN when assigned to Labor and Delivery.
• Provide health teaching and ensure infection prevention and patient safety.
• Ensure compliance with National Hospital Quality Measures and Patient Safety Goals.
