Job summary

University of Maryland Medical System is seeking a Registered Nurse for a PRN, rotating shift position in the Women’s & Children’s (Peds) unit. The role involves assessing patients, developing and modifying care plans, and coordinating with the care team to achieve optimal outcomes.

The incumbent will provide high-quality patient care, adhere to standards and ACLS/BLS requirements, and engage in ongoing professional development while supporting a collaborative care environment.

Qualifications

• Effective multidisciplinary team member.
• Ability to learn and use computer systems to manage patient information.
• Ability to participate in team-building efforts and support teamwork.
• Ability to assess data reflecting patient population needs across life span.
• Versatility to work within the PRN RN Standardized Program as outlined.

Responsibilities

• Provides care of unit-specific and/or hospital-based patient population; independently practices with solid knowledge and clinical skills; engaged in advancing own practice.
• Accountable to patients and families for care processes and outcomes during an episode.
• Collaborates with interdisciplinary team to plan and coordinate care addressing patient/family needs.
• Participates in implementation efforts addressing Nursing Sensitive Quality Indicators (NSQI).
• Complies with standards and supports regulatory compliance.
• Supports leader and charge nurse decisions; acts as primary coordinating nurse as required.
• Models practice consistent with unit operations to ensure safe, timely, patient-centered care.
• Follows AACN Healthy Work Environment guidelines and participates as a team member focusing on those elements.
• Performs other duties as assigned.
