Job summary

City of New York's DCAS, through the CEI line, seeks an administrative professional to support Citywide Equity and Inclusion initiatives. The role focuses on coordinating information, preparing briefing materials, and handling inquiries from the public and officials.

Reporting to the Chief of Staff, you will organize meetings, create agendas, assist in cross-agency projects, and help develop training on non-discrimination.

Qualifications

  • Experience coordinating meetings and preparing briefing materials.
  • Strong writing and research skills for policy topics.
  • Familiarity with EEO compliance and government procedures is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate and review information or recommendations from departmental staff.
  • Prepare agendas and fact sheets with background material for meetings.
  • Coordinate and schedule meetings including logistics and follow-up.
  • Respond to inquiries from the public and government officials in a professional and timely manner.
  • Provide administrative support to the line of service and perform other duties as assigned.
  • Conduct research and writing on EEO, employment law, policy issues, or special assignments as needed.
  • Assist in executing special projects involving cross-agency coordination, data collection, or policy development.
  • Help develop and update training materials for citywide non-discrimination training.
  • Assist with case practice reviews by compiling documents, preparing summaries, and supporting review workflows.
  • Provides support for high-level investigations, including scheduling, document preparation, and research.

The Department of Citywide Administrative Services' (DCAS) Citywide Equity and Inclusion (CEI) Line of Service sets the standards for City agencies to implement the City's EEO Policy.

This includes the implementation of initiatives that align with, and operationalize, the legal mandates and legislation designed to prevent workplace discrimination and harassment under the City's legally protected categories. CEI also develops and updates the City's EEO and diversity, equity and inclusion trainings portfolio to promote the awareness of rights, responsibilities and resources for the city workforce. The unit also organizes mandatory EEO best practices meetings and other educational programs and professional development for EEO professionals; conducts third-party EEO investigations when the agency head or the EEO officer is a party in the matter; promotes compliance with training programs and reporting requirements; designs and maintains compliance tools and reference resources. In addition, CEI provides guidance to agencies on emerging issues related to fair and effective employment practices, many of which impact retention and inclusivity; and guides agencies on preparation of their annual EEO plans as authorized by the New York City Charter Chapter 35, Section 814.1.
