Spanish Teaching Assistant Position Description

Mater Amoris is seeking a passionate and dedicated Spanish Teaching Assistant to support our Montessori-aligned Spanish program. This role is ideal for an education or Spanish major looking for hands-on experience in language immersion, curriculum development, and student engagement. The assistant will work closely with our lead Spanish educator to foster a dynamic and immersive learning environment for students aged 2-14.

Major Duties and Responsibilities

● Assist in planning and delivering engaging Spanish lessons aligned with Montessori principles.

● Support students in language acquisition through conversation practice, small group activities, and individualized assistance.

● Help prepare and organize Spanish-language materials, books, and Montessori-aligned resources.

● Lead or co-lead immersive Spanish experiences such as morning meetings, cultural activities, and practical life tasks.

● Facilitate interactive games, storytelling, and music to enhance language comprehension.

● Provide classroom support, including material setup, organization, and progress tracking.

● Collaborate with teachers to integrate Spanish into daily routines and cross-curricular activities.

● Assist in organizing cultural events, guest speaker sessions, and field trips related to Spanish-speaking cultures.

● Maintain a Spanish-speaking environment in designated areas to reinforce immersion.

● Offer tutoring or extra support to students needing additional Spanish practice.

Qualifications

● Current undergraduate or graduate student majoring in Education, Spanish, or a related field.

● Strong proficiency in Spanish (Intermediate-Advanced level or higher).

● Interest in Montessori education and language immersion techniques (experience in Montessori a plus but not required).

● Passion for working with children in an educational setting.

● Strong communication and organizational skills.

● Ability to commit to a structured weekly schedule.
