Brief Summary of Job Description

The Graduate Teaching Assistant supports efforts in the Department of Modern Languages to deliver instruction and programming for language learning and intercultural competence.

Job Duties

1. Teach two undergraduate Spanish courses per term.
2. OR teach one undergraduate Spanish course per term with additional duties, including attending department meetings and other committee meetings as assigned.

Additional duties can include:

• Serving as a teaching assistant in online or blended instruction courses.
• Assisting in organizing and supervising student activities, including Conversation Tables, Clubs, World Language Week, and Language Passport events.
• Helping in planning and delivering training and professional development to department tutors.
• Supervising the use of the department language lab for language proficiency testing.

Required Qualifications

• Strong proficiency in Spanish.
• Admitted or planning to be admitted to a graduate program at UNK to begin study no later than Fall 2025.

Preferred Qualifications

• Undergraduate degree in Education, Spanish, or related field.
• Admitted to Spanish Master of Arts in Education Program.
• Experience teaching languages.

Physical Demands

Schedule: 19 hours per week during Fall and Spring semesters, with a flexible schedule.
