Job summary

Carney Sandoe & Associates seeks an Upper School Spanish Teacher for the 2026-2027 school year at an independent school in Seattle, WA. This is a one-year long-term substitute position.

Upper School Spanish Teacher Responsibilities:

• Teach several Spanish courses to upper school students at various proficiency levels.
• Create opportunities for students to practice conversational Spanish and improve pronunciation and comprehension.
• Teaching students about Spanish culture, which may include festivals, traditional food, and dress, and social conventions.
• Organizing fun events where students can showcase their Spanish language skills.
• Communicate with parents regarding student progress and behavior.
• Participate in regular professional development activities to stay current with best practices and innovation in language education.

Upper School Spanish Teacher Requirements:

• Bachelor’s degree in Spanish, Linguistics, Education, or related required. Master's degree preferred.
• Proven written and verbal proficiency in Spanish.
• 3-5 years of previous K-12 Spanish teaching experience.
• No teaching license or credential is required.
• Strong interpersonal as well as written and verbal communication skills.
• Organized, dependable, and eager to contribute to the school community.
• Willingness to assist with extracurricular and school community activities.

Additional Desired Qualities:

• Knowledge of ACTFL standards preferred.
