Job summary

Our Lady of Lourdes School in Raleigh, NC is seeking a part-time Spanish Teacher for PreK-6. The role includes planning lessons, preparing instructional materials, and communicating with parents and administration while upholding the parish school mission.

Qualifications

  • Ability to lift up to 25 pounds to move teaching materials.

Job description

Our Lady of Lourdes School in Raleigh, NC is seeking a part time Spanish Teacher for grades PreK-6. The Spanish Teacher will perform professional responsibilities including but not limited to planning lessons, preparing instructional materials, serving on faculty committees, communication with parents and administration, and maintaining positive relationships with peers, students, parents, and the administration. This educator is responsible for instilling the values and mission of our parish school into teaching and learning. The individual that fulfills this position will carry out duties as assigned by the principal, including but not limited to the responsibilities below.

Key responsibilities
  • Integrate values and attitudes that guide students in evaluating and applying content in the light of Gospel teachings.
  • Implement the educational mission, philosophy, goals, and objectives of the school.
  • Plan, prepare, teach, and interact with students in a professional way that challenges students to reach their individual potential.
  • Contribute to a positive Catholic school culture driven by continuous professional and spiritual growth, the striving for academic excellence, and a commitment to collegial collaboration.
  • Deliver fun, interactive Spanish lessons for PreK through 6th grade students, tailored to their developmental levels.
  • Integrate Catholic faith elements where appropriate, connecting language learning to prayer, saints from Spanish-speaking countries, or liturgical vocabulary.
  • Collaborate with classroom teachers to align Spanish lessons with ongoing classroom themes and units when possible.
  • Develop and implement hands‑on learning experiences using research‑based instruction - including effective small group instruction - and design rigorous assessments to assess multiple levels of content and skills.
  • Cultivate ongoing communication and positive relationships with parents, students, and colleagues.
  • Supervision and other duties as assigned by Administration.
Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in education, ideally with a concentration in Spanish, or to be eligible to obtain it.
  • Valid North Carolina teaching license in content area (or in process).
  • Ability to lift up to 25 pounds to move teaching/school supplies to/from classroom.
  • Employment is contingent upon passing a criminal background and reference check; must complete Diocese-sponsored Safe Environment Training upon hire.
Preferred Qualifications
  • NC teaching license or equivalent from another state.
  • Experience teaching Spanish in a school setting.
  • A living knowledge of and alignment with the doctrines of the Catholic Church.
  • Active, fully initiated, practicing Catholic with prior teaching experience.
