UVA Health is seeking a Spanish Medical Interpreter to ensure patients with limited English proficiency understand their care and participate in decisions affecting their health. The role spans inpatient, outpatient, and education contexts within UVA Health’s academic health system, including transplant programs, and is delivered in person and via telemedicine.

Interpreters rotate among UVA locations, work a Monday–Friday schedule, and may handle 8–11 appointments daily with higher volumes in

• Completion of a 40-hour Medical Interpreter Training Program.
• Strong Spanish and English fluency with healthcare terminology.
• Ability to interpret accurately across inpatient, outpatient and education contexts.

Responsabilidades

• Provide professional Spanish interpretation for inpatient and outpatient encounters.
• Interpret medications, diagnoses, procedures, and discharge instructions with accuracy and neutrality.
• Support sensitive conversations including goals-of-care and end-of-life discussions.
• Facilitate patient and family education across clinical specialties.
• Travel among UVA Health locations and participate in various clinics.
