Job summary

Intermountain Health seeks a part-time, PRN Medical Interpreter to provide interpretation services across Saint Joseph Hospital in Denver and Lutheran Hospital in Wheat Ridge. Requires completion of a 40-hour Medical Interpreter course and professional language proficiency.

Shifts are on-site with variable scheduling, and prior healthcare interpreting experience is preferred. Applicants must upload a current resume reflecting interpretation experience and certifications.

Qualifications

• Excellent command of both source and target languages with professional proficiency in ILR level 3 or equivalent.
• Pre-hire skills assessment must be successfully completed.
• Prior interpretation experience in medical settings is preferred when possible.
• Ability to perform consecutive, simultaneous and sight translations with high accuracy.
• Knowledge of HIPAA and healthcare privacy standards is expected.

Responsibilities

• Provide accurate interpretation across demographics and clinical contexts.
• Translate written materials while preserving meaning and localization.
• Maintain records of interpretation events and ensure data consistency across systems.
• Coordinate with staff to determine interpretation modality (in-person, phone, video).
• Demonstrate cultural sensitivity and act as a mediator in intercultural exchanges.
