Job summary

Intermountain Health is seeking a PRN Medical Interpreter to support Saint Joseph Hospital in downtown Denver and Lutheran Hospital in Wheat Ridge, CO. You will interpret spoken language and translate written materials across clinical and support settings, ensuring accuracy and cultural sensitivity.

You must have ILR level 3 proficiency or equivalent, complete a 40-hour medical interpreter course (or approved alternative), and thrive in a fast-paced environment while protecting patient privacy.

Qualifications

• Excellent oral and written command of both source and target language(s) to obtain a Professional Proficiency or Level 3 in the ILR scale (or equivalent).
• Completion of a 40-hour Professional Medical Interpreter course or approved alternative.
• Ability to perform consecutive, simultaneous and sight translation with high accuracy in both languages.
• Demonstrated ability to work in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment.
• Strong prioritization and multi-tasking abilities.

Responsibilities

• Interpret medical and general information with high accuracy in consecutive, simultaneous, and sight translation modes.
• Translate written material, ensuring meaning and localization are maintained.
• Adhere to HIPAA, ethics, and standards of practice; act as cultural mediator.
• Maintain accurate records of interpretation events across platforms.
• Collaborate with staff and respond to requests in a timely manner.
