The schedule for this position will be discussed during the interview.Essential FunctionsInterpret medical and general information with the highest degree of accuracy and completeness in consecutive, simultaneous and sight translation modes for patients, families, and Intermountain Health staff, using appropriate communication methods according to the individual’s developmental age and mental condition.Interpret complex medical information, demonstrating expert knowledge of medical terminology and the healthcare system.Acts as a cultural mediator, demonstrating cultural sensitivity and superior intercultural communication skills. Renders unbiased interpretation to ensure accurate exchange of information in the proper cultural context.Adheres to the National Code of Ethics and Standards of Practice for Healthcare Interpreters, demonstrating knowledge of HIPAA, Title VI of the Civil Rights Act, Title III of the Americans with Disabilities Act, and Section 1557 of the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act.Manages time productively, displaying a proactive approach to the job. Responds to requests in a timely manner and provides staff with an estimated time of arrival for interpretation assignments.
